Request for Express Abandonment (Withdrawal) of Application
TEAS - Version 4.2 : 02/23/2008
Please enter the serial number of the application for which you wish to request express abandonment. Then, click on the Next button, below. NOTE: Only one application can be abandoned at a time; i.e., do not enter multiple serial numbers, but instead submit separate requests. NOTE: Once you file an express abandonment, it cannot be withdrawn except in an extraordinary situation upon petition to the Director under 37 C.F.R. §2.146(a)(3); TMEP §718.01. Also, filing of an Express Abandonment (Withdrawal) does NOT result in any refund of the original application fee. The fee is an initial processing fee, which is not refunded later, regardless of any expressed intent to cease prosecution of the application.

WARNING: Only the applicant or its attorney may request express abandonment (withdrawal) of its own existing application.

NOTE: You must complete any field preceded by the symbol "*"

This form has a session time limit of 60 minutes. If there is no activity within 60 minutes, the form will expire and you must begin again. A session begins once you click the Continue button, below. "Activity" means performing an actual function within the form (e.g., entering data or clicking on a data field), not merely moving "back" or "forward" from within your browser.

Each time a function is performed, a new 60-minute period begins. Therefore, this session time limit should only be a problem if you start the form and then totally stop work for more than 60 minutes, but will not be an issue if you happen to take longer than 60 minutes of steady work to complete the form.

:      (required only if completing the form for the first time)

WARNING: You may file this request up to the point of actual registration. However, if your application is already scheduled for printing of a registration certificate, which occurs approximately eight (8) weeks after the publication date, it may be too late to withdraw the application from the registration cycle. Therefore, although perhaps timely filed, your express abandonment will only be processed after cancellation of the inadvertently issued registration and restoration of your application to pendency; i.e., under this scenario, please be aware that significant delays in processing this filing will occur.
